Can I straighten my smile in time for my wedding?

Feb 21, 2013 | Orthodontics

If you want a picture perfect smile in time for your big day, it’s now possible to get straight teeth in a short amount of time. No longer do you have to wait years for dental braces to align your teeth – now you only have to wait a matter of weeks!

One of the orthodontic solutions which can achieve this is the Inman Aligner, a dental appliance which can straighten teeth in as little as 6-16 weeks. The removable device can be used to align front teeth quickly and efficiently. Made with nickel titanium coil springs which power two aligner bows in gentle opposition to one another, the teeth are gently guided into their desired position. The Inman Aligner works quickly to move teeth because it uses gentle forces over a large range of movement.

In effect the teeth are ‘squeezed’ into position with the inner bow pushing forward and the outer bow pulling back on the teeth. For maximum results you should wear it for 16-20 hours a day and this will be checked regularly every 3-4 weeks by your dentist to check that it’s moving.

Other forms of dental braces which may be suitable include fast fixed orthodontics in the form of Social 6 braces. These are invisible braces which can be used to treat mild cases of crowding or spacing of the front six teeth, hence the name. The brace is placed on the back of the teeth, i.e. the lingual side, making it a discreet option and a good alternative to Invisalign, Clearstep or the Inman Aligner. Results can usually be seen in around 6 to 16 weeks, but simple cases can take about 6-8 weeks.

At the Parrock Dental and Implant Centre, Dr Rik Trivedi is a highly experienced dentist in Kent and is an approved provider of Clearstep, Invisalign and Inman Aligner amongst other fast orthodontic procedures.
