Here at Parrock Street dental we are always looking forward and trying to keep up with the most up to date treatments available. Dr Trivedi has recently attended an extensive course on Botox, which has paved the way for innovative treatments coming into practice at Parrock Street dental.

Coming soon to our practice will be gummy smile treatment, which involves using Botulinum Toxin injections to relax the lip muscle and change the way that the lip sits over the teeth.

What is a gummy smile:

The definition of a gummy smile is when a person smiles and their lips reveal a larger than average portion on their gums as well as their teeth.

This usually begins to bother people when the lip sits more than 2mm higher than is usual, showing more gum than is normal. This can result in the person feeling very self conscious and often resulting in the person covering their mouth when they laugh or smile to hide their gummy grin.

The Solution:

This problem can be effectively treated with small Botulinum Toxin injections. This is a very simple and relatively painless solution, which involves a series of small injections in the muscles that control the upper lip. This relaxes the muscles, and will bring the lip down quite considerably, meaning that the teeth will be less visible. This is a temporary solution and the effects are fully reversible if you are not 100% happy with them. Results may not be seen instantly, but the results do last for up to 3 to 4 months and can greatly improve the appearance of the smile, as well as restoring your confidence and giving you back your smile.

Above are some examples of patients who have had this gummy smile treatment. The pictures clearly show quite a drastic difference from the before to the after, illustrating how this could make a massive difference to the confidence of the patient.

Watch this space, as this treatment will be coming to Parrock Dental very soon. If you have any questions about this or any other treatment then do not hesitate to contact the practice on 01474 537 191.
