Learn About Invisalign Invisible Orthodontics in Kent

Jul 7, 2013 | Orthodontics

You may have already heard about Invisalign or perhaps you already know somebody who has had this innovative treatment that uses aligners that are just about invisible, but do you know exactly how it works?

Treatment is very straightforward and is extremely discreet, but in spite of this Invisalign is able to treat a surprisingly large number of orthodontic issues including overcrowding, spaces in between teeth and problems caused by the way the teeth meet together (occlusion). All you need to do is find someone who provides Invisalign orthodontics in Kent, and that is extremely easy as Parrock Street is an Invisalign provider.

Book your Initial Consultation

You’ll need to book an initial consultation with Dr Rik Trivedi to find out if Invisalign is the correct orthodontic system for you. Parrock Street offers quite a few different orthodontic braces so you can rest assured that we won’t push a particular system unless we think it’s going to work well for you. If you decide to go ahead then the next step will be for our dentists to take x-rays, impressions and pictures of your teeth. These create a 3-D image which is used to construct your treatment plan. This shows the precise movements of your teeth and is really great as to be able to see a virtual representation showing exactly how they’ll move during treatment.

What to Expect during Treatment

Once treatment has been finalized then your custom aligners can be constructed. These are made out of a completely smooth and comfortable plastic material that won’t cause any irritation to your gums and cheeks. All you need to is to wear them for approximately 22 hours a day, although they can be removed whenever you eat, and whenever you need to brush and floss your teeth. Each set is worn for approximately 2 weeks before being changed for a fresh set. You’ll be supplied with several sets of aligners at each appointment, but will probably need to attend our surgery once every six weeks or so just so we can check to make sure treatment is progressing as expected. You may experience a small amount of discomfort every time you change the aligners but this should quickly wear off as your teeth become accustomed to the feel of your new braces.

Treatment typically takes a year to complete but this may vary quite a bit depending on the complexity of your orthodontic needs. If you’ve always secretly wanted a straighter smile why not make this the year you finally achieve it? You may get dentist in Kent at Parrock Street dental or call us on 01474 537191.
