Using the botulinum toxin A, these lines can be temporarily smoothed out, which can dramatically improve the appearance of severe frown lines. The procedure works by using a purified protein produced by the Clostridium botulinum bacterium that reduces muscle activity which causes frown lines to form between the brows.
A small amount of the purified toxin is injected into the wrinkles and within 2-3 days the muscles that produce frown lines won’t be able to contract as they lose this ability. Over the next 2 weeks after treatment, you’ll find it increasingly difficult to frown or see lines when you smile. The muscles start returning to normal after about 3-4 months, so a top-up treatment may be required after this time. We recommend topping up when the early signs of the muscle activity returns as soon as possible to maintain a smooth line free face and avoid any noticeable facial changes. This keeps the result discreet and appearance natural.
The botulinum toxin has been known to treat wrinkles around the eyes, lines on the forehead and frown as well as the neck area. It works by blocking any transmission of the nerve impulses which go to the muscles.
