If you dislike the appearance of your smile due to one or more missing teeth, dental implants are one solution which can restore their natural look and function. Dental implants consist of titanium metal rods which when anchored into the jawbone can provide a stable and permanent fixture onto which artificial teeth can be attached.

Dental implants are used as they have a very high success rate, around 95% in most cases with the right after care. They can be used to support bridges, dentures and crowns to name just a few examples and their main advantage is that they will feel just like your real teeth and be comfortable to wear. No longer do you have to put up with slipping dentures or a grotesque hole where your tooth used to be!

Dental implants are generally placed in two visits. In the first appointment they are placed in a small surgical operation using a local anaesthetic or some form of sedation if you’re feeling nervous. After that point, the dental implant has to heal which can take a number of months – anywhere between 3-9 months on average. Following this, the artificial tooth can then be added in the next appointment. It may be necessary to have a healing cap added to your tooth on the site of the implant during the healing process.
