We know that it’s never too early to start caring for your teeth, so we provide our younger patients with fluoride applications and fissure sealants (tooth coloured sealants applied to the biting surface of the tooth), to help them get a good start on the road to dental health.

Our hygienists give patients of all ages a thorough teeth cleaning and advise them on best practice to help them avoid invasive treatment for longer.

They can also help people to deal with halitosis (bad breath) in a discreet and tactful manner, and work with our dentists to spot early signs of tooth decay.

Gum Disease

Gum Disease Treatments

Our practice offers a ‘teeth for life’ service where we aim to keep your teeth for life. Did you know that gum disease is the number 1 cause of tooth loss in adults. It is also linked to heart disease, premature births and a host of other diseases. Once you lose the gum and bone it is difficult to get it back so prevention is key.

Gum Disease FAQ’s

What is gum disease?
Gum disease describes swelling, soreness or infection of the tissues supporting the teeth. There are two main forms of gum disease:
gingivitis and periodontal disease.
What is gingivitis?
Gingivitis means inflammation of the gums. This is when the gums around the teeth become very red and swollen. Often the swollen gums bleed when they are brushed during cleaning.
What is periodontal disease?
Long-standing gingivitis can turn into periodontal disease. There are a number of types of periodontal disease and they all affect the tissues supporting the teeth. As the disease gets worse the bone anchoring the teeth in the jaw is lost, making the teeth loose. If this is not treated, the teeth may eventually fall out.
What is the cause of gum disease?
All gum disease is caused by plaque. Plaque is a film of bacteria which forms on the surface of the teeth and gums every day. Many of the bacteria in plaque are completely harmless, but there are some that have been shown to be the main cause of gum disease. To prevent and treat gum disease, you need to make sure you remove all the plaque from your teeth every day. This is done by brushing and flossing.
What happens if gum disease is not treated?
Unfortunately, gum disease progresses painlessly on the whole so that you do notice the damage it is doing. However, the bacteria are sometimes more active and this makes your gums sore. This can lead to gum abscesses, and pus may ooze from around the teeth. Over a number of years, the bone supporting the teeth can be lost. If the disease is left untreated for a long time, treatment can become more difficult.
How do I know if I have gum disease?
The first sign is blood on the toothbrush or in the rinsing water when you clean your teeth. Your gums may also bleed when you are eating, leaving a bad taste in your mouth. Your breath may also become unpleasant.

Mouth Cancer Screening

Mouth cancer is a malignant growth which can occur in any part of the mouth, including the tongue, lips and throat. Mouth cancers have a higher proportion of deaths per number of cases than breast cancer, cervical cancer or skin melanoma. The mortality rate is just over 50%, despite treatment, with about 1,700 deaths per year in the UK. This is because of late detection. Visit your dentist at once if you notice any abnormal problems or are not sure. Regular dental checkups allow early detection of abnormalities in the mouth.

Mouth Cancer Foundation

The Mouth Cancer Foundation is a registered charity that raises awareness of mouth cancers and proviedes information and support to patients, carers and health professionals.

Preventive Dentistry

Parrock Dental is a centre of excellence for dentistry

Children

When it comes to dental hygiene, getting an early start can make all the difference. Our staff are trained to not only look after your children’s teeth, but also to help them learn how to take care of their own dentition. This means that they will grow up with strong healthy smiles, minimising their need for invasive treatment in the future.

Dental Hygiene

Dental hygiene treatment includes professionally cleaning the teeth for the patient. This is usually called scaling and polishing. However, perhaps our most important role is showing the patient the best way to keep the teeth free of plaque.

The dentist also plays an important role in treating gum disease.

Bad Breath

Bad breath is a very common problem and there are many different causes. Persistent bad breath is usually caused by the smelly gases released by the bacteria that coat your teeth and gums.

However, strong foods like garlic and onions can add to the problem. Smoking is also one of the main causes of bad breath, along with certain illnesses such as nasal and stomach conditions.

Bits of food that get caught between the teeth and on the tongue will rot and can sometimes cause an unpleasant smell. So correct and regular brushing is very important to keep your breath smelling fresh.
The bacteria on our teeth and gums (plaque) also cause gum disease and dental decay.

If you see your dentist regularly this will not only help prevent bad breath but will also let the dentist look for and treat these problems.

Decay Detection

Tooth Decay Detection

Decay may or may not cause discomfort; even though it doesn’t hurt, the tooth is deteriorating.

Using higher magnification and powerful lighting, it is easier to detect decay at an early stage to prevent excessive tooth damage. When cavities are small, they are much easier and less expensive to treat.

Early tooth decay does not tend to show many physical signs. Sometimes the tooth looks healthy, but your dentist will be able to see from an x-ray whether you have any decay under the enamel, any possible infections in the roots, or any bone loss around the tooth.

June 2025:
My experience with Parrock Dental & Implant Centres has been amazing since I first visited around three months ago back in March. I first visited the centre and had my consultation before having my teeth hygiene completed in my second appointment and was a great experience in which I was gave excellent advice. I then had my third appointment, which my teeth were scanned and sent off for my moulds to be created for my teeth whitening kit. I was really impressed with my results from my teeth whitening kit which I used for just over a month on both my upper and lower teeth. I began to see a difference within 3-4 days of starting my teeth whitening. My family and friends had noticed a big difference after 2-3 weeks. I then had another appointment today to complete my composite bonding as well as three fillings on my upper teeth which was completed by my dental surgeon Huzaifa and nurse Alpa for today who were very kind and helpful throughout the process. I was really impressed with my results from my composite bonding today and it has definitely restored confidence in my smile. I just wanted to say a massive thank you to everyone at Parrock Dental and their team who have been so helpful and kind to me throughout the process. I would highly recommend Parrock Dental and Implant Centres to anybody who is looking for general or cosmetic dental work!

February 2026:
I wanted to add another amazing review for Parrock Dental & Implant Centres but it wouldn’t let me create another separate review so I thought I would add onto this review about my amazing experience with Parrock Dental & Implant Centres over the past few weeks. I firstly came in for a consultation in January regarding composite bonding for my bottom 10 teeth. I spoke first with my dental surgeon Hakim and Morgan regarding my composite bonding treatment plan who were so kind and helpful. I then had my scans done for my teeth whitening moulds on the same day ready for my teeth whitening kit which I later picked up a couple days later. My teeth whitening kit worked brilliantly and was happy with the results of the colour. I also had my hygiene and air flow done a couple days after that which I was also very happy with my results and my hygienist was so kind and friendly as well. I then came back today (Tuesday 24th February 2026) to have my composite bonding completed on my bottom 10 teeth and scans completed for my night guards which was completed by my Dental surgeon Hakim, Dental nurses Chanel and Lily and Jay who helped photographed my treatment today. They were all absolutely amazing and were very kind and polite. I am so happy with the results of my composite bonding today and cannot thank the Parrock Dental team enough for their help throughout my treatment plan. I highly recommend Parrock Dental & Implant centres to anyone seeking general dental or cosmetic dental treatment!

My journey begins in June 24
My journey begins in June 24, umm’d and arr’d about having implants, had a consultation with Rik and decided to go ahead, my teeth were in a poor state and falling out due to medication and illness, being a coffee drinker and smoker made my teeth stained, I was embarrassed to smile, but now Wow I’m so happy with the results I now have natural looking teeth, the procedure was realistically pain free, simple for me I just laid back and watched a film whilst Rik done the completed part, people are always commenting on my smile and teeth now, I am so pleased with the results and it’s worth their weight in gold

Another great professional job from Rik, I had a large cracked molar that could not be saved. So I had it replaced with an implant that allowed me to eat without biting down onto my bare gum.I`m well pleased with the result.

I had an amazing experience at Parrock Dental!
I came here for implant for my upper three, because I still had my milk tooth there in my middle thirties.
Our journey wasn’t quick and easy but it was worth it.
Not many dentists would take up the challenge. My tooth was sitting somewhere in the gum with very difficult angle to remove but Rik promised that I will have my dream smile.
I had my initial appointment with Jacqueline who explained what do we need to do so I can be comfortable with the time frame and all costs.
My hygienists appointments made a huge difference to my gum, I would recommend to see a professionals in Parrock Dental to everyone who like me struggles with gum disease.
I was wearing Invisalign for 6 months. That was necessary to make a proper space for my implant. I am so pleased with my results.
My teeth are straight, white and I feel amazing. I regained my self confidence.
Every step from the initial appointments, hygiene appointments and surgery appointments were handled with care and professionalism. Coming to this place and seeing receptionist’s friendly face like Indira is making you feel comfortable and welcoming.
That was my best decision, one regret is that I should come here earlier!
Thank you Parrock Dental! You are all amazing!

My story started many years ago after losing teeth to trauma incidents, it progressed with neglect, non-regular dentist visits & smoking. When teeth begin to go they go ! One by one (if not addressed) the next inline falls.

Life circumstance always got in the way to do something about it (I kept telling myself). In reality I just kept putting it off. Pain, infection & discomfort followed & plagued me for years. Eventually I pulled the last few myself, ouch !

It’s very embarrassing being middle aged with no teeth, I felt very old when I stared back at myself in the mirror. A high-profile job & the butt of jokes (albeit well-meaning jokes) I suppose is what eventually drove me to do something about it. I could not perform at my best whilst speaking to a room, this effected business with continued self-consciousness in my appearance.

A year of research led me to Parrock Dental & Rick to undertake my full mouth restoration. You see if you research not all implant surgeons are equal. Many dental practices offer it; however, not all are fully qualified to do so, Rick is !

I wont lie it was costly however a valued investment in myself.
Compared to other practices Parrock are very, very reasonable in their costs for what you get. but it all about the outcome right ?

I cannot compliment Rick and the whole Parrock team enough, they have been absolutely fantastic, from receptionists to the nurse technicians. For me it has been a privilege to have found Parrock Dental, they have given me back a perfect smile and most important my confidence again.

One thing to add (as I know many reading & researching will want to know) before you pull the trigger on your full restoration journey, was it painful ? Well, the honest answer is not as half as what is imagined. I learned many years ago fear on the most part is imagined pain & not reality. I wont lie, it is an uncomfortable procedure to undertake but is very well managed by Parrock team & NOT agonising pain. A day of uncomfortableness is well worth a life changing outcome is it not !

Such is my confidence in Rick & the Parrock team, I am more than willing to talk directly with you and discuss my journey. I would love to help you if I can as Parrock has helped me, definitely !
Regards,
Paul S
