If you’re thinking about having a smile makeover then you are probably contemplating ways of making your teeth look straighter and more even. Many people didn’t have the chance to have orthodontic treatment as a child, and more are now choosing to do so as an adult. It’s easy to see the attraction as the most up-to-date orthodontics in Kent can gently and effectively move the teeth into the correct position, and even better the braces are just about invisible.
Parrock Dental and Implant Centre have quite a wide choice of braces available so Dr Rik Trivedi or another of our dentists in Kent will be able to recommend the system that’s right for you. One such brace is called the Inman Aligner, and is a removable appliance that moves the teeth from the inside of your mouth. This means most people will be quite unaware you are straightening your teeth. Using a removable orthodontic appliance is also a huge advantage in terms of oral health. Traditional fixed braces often involve complicated looking wires and brackets that can be tricky to clean around. Having a removable appliance makes it easy to maintain good dental health right throughout treatment so the final result will be a straighter smile that is also healthy.
What exactly is the Inman Aligner?
The Inman Aligner has a plastic base and uses two opposing aligner bows that are powered by titanium coil springs. The two aligner bows work in opposition against each other to gently move the teeth into the correct position. They are able to exert forces over quite a large range of movement, enabling this particular orthodontic brace to work very quickly. One bow is positioned on the outer surface of the teeth, while the other is positioned on the inner surface of the teeth. The inner bow pushes the teeth outwards while the outer bow pulls the teeth back into position.
The majority of our patients will see their teeth moved into the correct position within as little as four months, or even sooner. We will be able to give you a realistic estimate as to how long it’ll take to move your teeth when you come and see us for a consultation. Even though this brace is removable, you’ll need to make sure you wear it for between 16 and 20 hours each day.
