If you have school-age children then no doubt you’ve recently been busy helping them try on new clothes and stocking up on school supplies for the beginning of the new term. However it’s a great opportunity to book a dental check-up with Dr Rik Trivedi or another of our dentists here in Kent, as it’ll ensure they begin the brand-new school year with healthy teeth and gums. Otherwise it can sometimes be tricky to fit in a dental appointment, as the autumn is often a busy time of year. Booking a check-up now will mean that any treatment can be carried out as soon as possible rather than having to extract your child from school during the day for an emergency appointment. Far more school hours than you might imagine are lost to dental pain and subsequent appointments to try to put things right.

You’ll also find our staff at Parrock Dental and Implant Centre can offer you lots of useful advice on how to care for your children’s teeth. Regular appointments will help ensure they enter adulthood with a healthy set of teeth. At this time in their life they may require additional treatments such as fissure sealants or fluoride applications to help protect newly erupted permanent teeth. Additionally they may require braces in Kent, and Dr Trivedi can give you advice on planning for this.
Fluoride Treatments and Dental Sealants
We may suggest extra fluoride treatments if we think your child is at risk of tooth decay, as fluoride can help harden the tooth enamel, greatly decreasing this risk. Fissure sealants are tooth coloured sealants that are painted onto the chewing surfaces of your child’s permanent teeth and are great at helping to protect these areas against decay. The chewing surfaces of the back teeth often need to be filled as they contain lots of tiny grooves that are extremely good at trapping particles of food and plaque bacteria. These grooves can be very difficult to clean thoroughly, and sealing them is a great preventative dental care treatment.
Braces in Kent
If we think your child’s teeth aren’t meeting together correctly or if they have certain issues with their bite then we will probably suggest they have orthodontic treatment. We offer a pretty wide range of different braces systems, and the reason for this is that one size doesn’t fit all. This does mean we will be able to recommend the correct brace for your child.
